On the first hot day this summer we visited the Shanghai animation museum. Some interesting work there.
Original animation slide from 1961 Journey to the West.
A modern cartoon called ‘not coming home this spring festival’.
Nothing much has changed since then, except there was this inspirational hole in between. Magazine cover from 1936 – how modern!
Generally the covers from early 1900’s are very open and advanced. Some further than modern advertising.
As time progresses, the style becomes harder and more radical. ‘Something in the making’ back then.
On the central bridge – some interesting effects – freaking hot thou!
The only remedy – German beer and Schnitzel with potato salad.
Even the sky was kind of cartoony that day – reminded me of ‘My neighbor Totoro’.
